Description

  •  Learn the basic skills of taking blood and correct specimen collection techniques
  •  Overview of how to safely use equipment to perform venepuncture as part of safe practice
  • Practical sessions using vein boards to practice technique
 

Prerequisites

In order to gain competency in venepuncture, the nurse must have completed the Ko Awatea Te Tai Tokerau Peripheral IV cannulation ELearn, and then perform three venepunctures supervised by a nurse/doctor competent in phlebotomy, using the Phlebotomy competency which can be adapted to your own primary care practice.
