Community management of cellulitis: bringing practice and funding in line with evidence
An in-depth discussion on updated advice for management of cellulitis and relevant POADMS funding.
Description
Most cellulitis without complicating factors can be safely managed in the community with appropriately dosed oral antibiotic therapy and limb elevation.
There is no evidence that intravenous (IV) antibiotics have better outcomes than appropriately dosed oral antibiotic therapy for patients with cellulitis treated in the community. There is increasing recognition of the harms of IV therapy. Oral antibiotics and oral probenecid can achieve similar drug levels to IV therapy and is considered best practice for community management of uncomplicated cellulitis.
Join this webinar to hear from our local microbiologist, the Northland Health Pathways and Primary Options teams about the evidence underpinning this approach, appropriate community management of cellulitis and how POADMS funding is being realigned to support this.
