RNs: Apply for funding to become a Nurse Practitioner! Applications open now until 5 November 2025.
Description
Applications are now open for Registered Nurses (RNs) to take part in a new national training support scheme, supported by Mahitahi Hauora, aimed at growing the Nurse Practitioner (NP) workforce and strengthening primary care across Aotearoa.
The Nurse Practitioner Training Support Scheme (NPTSS) provides tailored support for RNs completing the final practicum year of their Master of Nursing qualification and transitioning into their new scope of practice as NPs. Each year, the scheme will support up to 180 RNs, with 120 places prioritised for those working in primary and community healthcare, and 60 for RNs in specialist areas such as mental health and emergency departments.
