Optimising Care for Patients with Aortic Stenosis or Mitral Regurgitation
Dr Karsten Tange Veien covers detection, risk factors, investigation pathways, referral pathways, and management options for Aortic Stenosis.
Description
Aortic Stenosis symptoms are often overlooked, particularly in older and less health-literate or remote area populations. Māori and Pacific patients have much lower treatment rates due to being unaware of symptoms.
In this dinner session, Dr Karsten Tange Veien gives a comprehensive overview of Aortic Stenosis from detection through to management and referral. Join us for kai from 5:30, presentation start at 6pm. Venue to be confirmed.
Learning Outcomes
- Recognise Aortic Stenosis, identifying key risk factors and typical symptoms
- Understand the critical role of auscultation in early detection
- How to initiate appropriate investigation pathways
- Understand current management and treatment options
- Brief introduction of Mitral regurgitation detection and management
This session is presented by Dr Karsten Tange Veien in conjunction with Edwards Lifesciences. Registration information will be shared between Mahitahi Hauora PHE and Edwards Lifesciences.
